Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB)

WCBWork is tough enough.  Getting injured while at work is even worse. At REP Physio,  we pride ourselves on helping you recover as quickly as possible and we are happy to help guide you through the claim process.

Here’s a few steps to make the WCB process as easy as possible.

1. Report the injury to your employer.

If you’ve been hurt at work or discover that you are suffering from an occupational disease, you have the right to report your injury. Let your employer know exactly what happened to cause your injury/illness.  Your employer/supervisor (or your company’s Occupational and Health Services Manager) will be required to submit a form to WCB that details your injury.  The employer’s report can be found here

2. Inform a health care provider.

Tell your doctor or other health care provider that you were injured at work. On your first visit, our physiotherapists Edmonton will assess and treat your injury, provide you with a treatment plan, and suggest modified duties or hours if applicable.  We typically provide a report to WCB detailing your injury and assessment findings the same day.  You do not need a WCB claim number before you come to the clinic.

3. Report the injury to WCB.

You can report your injury to WCB via mail, fax, or online.  The online link for reporting an injury can be found here.  If you can’t report it online, a downloadable faxable form can be found here.  If you have more questions, you can call WCB at 780 498 3999.

Once WCB has received the injury reports from you, the injured worker, your employer and your physiotherapist, a decision on your claim will be made as soon as possible.  WCB typically covers most work related injuries for a period of care of 6 weeks at a frequency of 3 times per week. More complicated injuries (fractures, injuries requiring surgical intervention etc.) are covered for longer periods.  Your therapist and/or WCB case manager will discuss your treatment period with you.
