Due to the challenges presented by COVID-19, and in an effort to continue social distancing. REP Physio is pleased to offer opportunities for our valued clients to access high-quality care using a computer or smartphone.

What is Telerehabilitation (TR)?

TR is the provision of physiotherapy services via interactive audio/video via phone and chat. It allows you the client to access your physiotherapist from a distance in the comfort of your own home. Our staff can provide an assessment (if appropriate) of your clinical condition, educate you on your recovery, and provide you with home exercise and management strategies to maximize your function.

FAQ

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR TR?

Many, but not all musculoskeletal conditions/injuries are appropriate for TR. Medical emergencies are not appropriate for TR. Please dial 911 if you are in medical distress. Your physiotherapist will be able to determine if your unique situation is appropriate for TR.

DON’T I HAVE TO BE IN THE CLINIC TO GET BETTER? DOES TR REALLY WORK?

As much as we’d like to have you in the clinic, there is still a place in your care plan for TR. Multiple research studies have shown that TR is effective and comparable to in-clinic care for musculoskeletal conditions. Additionally, exercise programming and education about your condition that can be provided by TR will help you move, perform and live better. DOES MY EXTENDED HEALTH CARE PROVIDER COVER PHYSIO DONE VIA TR?

Currently, we are aware of the following providers covering TR.

We encourage you to check with your extended health care provider first to determine your exact coverage.

Unfortunately, most motor vehicle accident insurance companies are yet to cover TR. We are currently only aware of AVIVA covering TR appointment. Please reach out to your insurance adjustor to confirm your coverage.

IS MY INFORMATION SECURE?

Patient privacy is of utmost importance to us. Your personal health information is transmitted in an encrypted fashion, and stored in secure servers (in Canada) that is PIPEDA compliant.

WHAT SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS DO I REQUIRE?

A smartphone or computer with a working camera and mic.

WHAT PLATFORM ARE YOU USING FOR TR?

We are using Phzio. It is an encrypted, secure platform. Please visit Phzio to check it out.

WILL IT WORK FOR NEW ASSESSMENTS, OR DO I HAVE TO BE A PRE-EXISTING CLIENT?

We welcome new assessments and pre-existing clients to access our services via TR.

HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?


To schedule your first TR appointment, you need to reach out directly to your physiotherapist via email so they can set you up in the TR system. Once set up, you will receive an email and/or text reminder of your appointment. Please email your therapist your name and the time and date you were hoping to have an appointment. You could also call us at 780 395 9170, however, we will be checking voicemail only periodically as our clinic is now closed to the public.

WILL IT WORK FOR WOMEN’S PELVIC HEALTH APPOINTMENTS?

Yes. Education is a big part of women’s pelvic health. TR lends itself well to this critical part of your care plan.

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR?

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. (No judgement if you are in your PJs.)

HOW LONG WILL MY SESSION BE?

Sessions can be 30-60 mins. Your session may be shorter or longer depending on your clinical needs.

WHAT IS MY THERAPIST’S TR SCHEDULE?

After your therapist has set you up for your initial appointment, you will be able to see your therapist’s schedule via https://phzio.com/patients/

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?

At the start of your TR session, your therapist will confirm your identity by asking for your date of birth or claim number. You’ll also be provided with a copy of our TR consent form via email for you to sign and email back to us. This  fillable .pdf form is also available here:  Download PDF (in addition to the one you sign off on on the Phzio platform).

Following your TR session, our administrative staff will contact you to process your billing. This will be happening on Fridays between 9 and 2 p.m. Expect a call from 780 395 9170.
